Where do you meet?
We hold our worship services in the David Reid Theatre at Chapman Cultural Center, 200 E. St. John Street, in downtown Spartanburg (map and directions). This is the main building of the complex. As you walk in the double doors you'll see us.
What should I wear?
We encourage you to wear what is comfortable for you -- dressy, casual, even jeans. You will usually find someone else wearing the same thing!
What about my children? Are they welcome at the service?
Absolutely! Children are always welcome to attend worship with their parents. When you first visit All Saints, you may want to keep your children with you during the entire service, and that's perfectly acceptable. A nursery made up of highly screened caregivers is available for infants and children up to age 6.
Will I be singled out as a visitor?
No. You will be greeted when you come in and encouraged to sign in and wear a nametag just like the rest of us. You will not be asked to stand or be singled out in any way.
Who may take Communion at All Saints Church?
Communion is open to all baptized Christians able to uphold the Nicene Creed in letter and spirit, and who are in right relationship with the Lord and their neighbor. Baptized children are also welcome to receive Communion at the decision of the child and his/her parents.
How do I take Communion?
The ushers will direct you to come down to the front where the priest will hand you a wafer in your cupped hands. You will then be directed to drink from the cup or dip your wafer in the cup of wine. We have two chalices. The one with the ribbon is for dipping. The one without the ribbon is the common cup for sipping. Please let an usher know if it is difficult for you to come forward; we are glad to bring Communion to you in your seat.
Will I catch anything from the common cup?
Actually, tests have been done on the common Communion cup and the chances for germs are very small because the alcohol kills the germs. Also, the cup is wiped clean after each person drinks. If you are uncomfortable drinking out of the cup, you may dip your wafer in the cup of wine or not take the wine at all. The chalice for dipping is signified by the ribbon.
What kind of church are you?
We are first and foremost a Christian church! We hold to the ancient creeds (Apostles' Creed and Nicene Creed ) and believe that Scripture (the Holy Bible) is our primary source for revelation about who God is and how He relates to His creation. We are liturgical, which means our services are highly participatory, ordered and consistent in form from week to week. That said, we are open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and commited to worship in wonder, love and praise. We seek to be the kind of church that exalts the name of Jesus Christ above all else to the honor and glory of God our Father.
